SUMMARY:

Introduces and supports teachers of EL students with methods, instructional strategies and materials that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement and language proficiency

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide support to the education process of English Learners by understanding the purpose and specifics of academic programs, supplemental and intervention programs to ensure English Learners are meeting/exceeding the state standards and are making progress towards English language
  2. Collaborate with school sites to strengthen teachers’ development and use of EL strategies by providing teachers of English Learners in-class support through modeling direct, explicit, systematic instruction that supports language and literacy
  3. Observe and monitor instruction within all SEI program models and content areas that teach English Learners and provide teachers with
  4. Analyze data to find trends and work collaboratively with other staff to design professional development to support the needs of English language
  5. Collaborates with other school districts, charter schools, state and federal agencies, colleges, universities, and professional organizations on matters related to language
  6. Conduct training and meetings as needed to support classroom instruction of English Learners using evidence-based strategies.
  7. Support teachers in understanding how to scaffold instruction to ensure high levels of EL student
  8. Assist teachers in understanding the importance of data and how to monitor student progress by understanding and interpreting literacy and language assessment data, to inform and support EL instructional decisions, based on various types of
  9. Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several concrete variables

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, students, administration, and the community.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
